Corporate Investment Training Programs
We work with Canadian companies who want their teams to understand financial markets better. Our instructors bring real trading floor experience and practical knowledge that actually transfers to workplace decisions.
Isla Thornberg
Lead Corporate Programs Instructor
Teaching Approach Built on Experience
Background
Before teaching, Isla spent twelve years managing institutional portfolios for pension funds. She's seen what works when pressure hits and what falls apart during volatility. That perspective shapes how she explains concepts to corporate learners.
Focus Areas
Her sessions cover risk assessment frameworks, portfolio diversification strategies, and how to read market indicators without getting lost in noise. She's particularly good at explaining derivatives and options in ways that finance teams actually retain.
Teaching Style
Isla runs workshops through case studies drawn from actual market events. Teams work through scenarios that mirror decisions they'll face internally. She doesn't lecture much. Most sessions involve group problem-solving with guided feedback.
Client Results
A Halifax credit union brought their investment committee through her program in early 2024. They've since restructured their approach to assessing risk exposure. Not dramatic changes, but more informed decision patterns when reviewing quarterly positions.
How We Structure Corporate Programs
Every company has different needs. Some teams want basic market literacy, others need advanced strategy workshops. We adapt the curriculum based on where your people actually are.
Assessment Phase
We start with conversations about your team's current knowledge level and what gaps cause problems. Takes about two weeks of back-and-forth before we design anything.
Custom Curriculum
Based on that assessment, we build a program that addresses your specific needs. Could be three half-day sessions or a six-week deep dive. Format depends on what makes sense for your schedule and goals.
Workshop Delivery
Sessions run either at your location or our Saint John facility. We bring the materials, case studies, and simulation tools. Teams work through realistic scenarios with immediate instructor feedback.
Practical Application
Between sessions, participants apply concepts to their actual work contexts. They bring questions and challenges back to the next workshop. This creates learning that sticks because it's immediately relevant.
Follow-Up Support
After the formal program ends, teams get three months of email access to instructors. When questions come up during real decision-making situations, they can get guidance without scheduling another full session.
Ongoing Options
Some companies schedule quarterly refresher sessions. Others bring us back when market conditions shift significantly. We stay available as your team's knowledge needs evolve over time.
Real Training Environment
Our Saint John facility includes dedicated training rooms equipped with market data terminals and simulation software. Teams work with the same tools professional traders use, which helps bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
We limit group sizes to twelve participants. Larger teams split into multiple sessions. This keeps things interactive and ensures everyone gets individual attention when they're stuck on a concept.
